Four Women, one ocean...and a lasting legacy

We are delighted to announce our partnership with the Force Atlantic 24 team. This all-female military team will be taking part in the World's Toughest Row later this year. They will be embarking on a 3000-mile journey from La Gomera in the Canary Islands to Antigua in the Caribbean and they will be fundraising for The Girls’ Network as part of their challenge.

The venture will see a team of four row continuously for almost six weeks, taking two-hour shifts as they traverse waves, weather and the physical and mental demands involved.

This is the first all-female Army team to row across the Atlantic and amazingly some of the team had no rowing experience before signing up! Following a difficult recruitment process that tested their resilience, motivation and ability to work as a team, the rowers and their six support members are now keen to create a lasting legacy to promote women in adventure and show other girls and women what is possible.

Aims of the Force Atlantic mission

  • To promote women, both in and out of the military and share their incredible stories.
  • To inspire others, through humility, humour and inclusivity, to believe that anything is possible.
  • To belong, by building a community of strong like-minded individuals.

Inspiring girls and young women

Once the team have completed their epic challenge they will be taking part in a post-row engagement tour with some of our school partners. The aim will be to motivate and inspire the girls we work with to push themselves to do hard things and reach for their dreams.

We are incredibly grateful to have been chosen as Force Atlantic's charity for this mission and we know their story of determination, teamwork and self-belief will be one that helps us to inspire even more girls and young women to believe in their unlimited futures.

We're sure you will join us in wishing the team all the best in their preparations and for the challenge itself. Keep an eye on our socials for more updates as the race approaches and visit the Force Atlantic website to find out more about their challenge and visit their JustGiving fundraising page to donate.
